Be Good Get Fit

Lots of people jog for exercise. As long as you are going for a run, why not run an errand for someone who needs help at the same time? This is the idea behind The Good Gym: this organization matches runners with less mobile people in their neighborhood who need groceries, other goods or just some kindness and human contact. The Good Gym won first prize at the 2008 Social Innovation Camp. The idea was refined and tested over the following years and is now up and running in East London. Check out their website at www.thegoodgym.org – to everyone involved in The Good Gym you did good!

A poem of inspiration

Jesus dreamt
Of a world
Of one
Global family
Each person
Relationship
Friendship
And blood family
Being a gift
From his Abba
Attempting to
Overcome the
Barriers of
Race, colour,
Sex and creed.
Locally we
Come together
With our individualities
Our languages
And cultures

Separate and distinct….
But there are
The obstacles
Of not knowing
Each other
And therefore
Experiencing a degree
Of unsureness
And fear.
We pass different ones
Sometimes as shadows …
Each of us
So tends to
Be centred on self
And yet how
We hunger for
Change, conversion
Of our hearts
And minds.
