Being with God

I have been overwhelmed in the last few months with my extra long to do list yet by nature (or not) I am a doer so I have been doing a lot but not feeling at peace. I know some of this feeling is I am not in my regular routine i.e. working out, or spending time with friends – it seems to have time for the changes that have occurred in my life I needed to put other things on hold. I realized one of those things I have put on hold is my relationship with God. Even though I wake up in the morning and ask how can I serve… I proceed into crossing off my list of things to do.  At my women’s meditation group yesterday someone commented they realized they just have to decide to make the time to be with God daily since that is the most important thing to her and not allow the distractions of life to get in the way of that. I realized at that moment I have not been carving out specific time to just be with God and this is necessary to deepen my relationship with Jesus which I say is my priority – as I heard that statement at the group meeting I knew this has to be a conscious choice to make daily and not allow my to do list (no matter how long it is) to get in the way of this. Thank you Anne…you did good!

Just a reminder, Patti, that all YOU do… you do with the energy of good (at least with that intention… three bottles of wine and all)and in that is God.. and so my friend you are with God always in every moment…. the daily ritual of prayer and meditation will however help to keep that memory clear to you and allow the joy in your heart to be the most present emotion. Thank you for reiterating my sentiment.. as I need the reminder to keep the promise I made to myself by spending time in that space as well. My problem is that once I am there.. I don’t want to come out. As I said before…you are my inspiration to get some things crossed off my “to do” list. Perhaps that is why we are friends… three bottles of wine and all.

A poem of inspiration

Jesus dreamt
Of a world
Of one
Global family
Each person
And blood family
Being a gift
From his Abba
Attempting to
Overcome the
Barriers of
Race, colour,
Sex and creed.
Locally we
Come together
With our individualities
Our languages
And cultures

Separate and distinct….
But there are
The obstacles
Of not knowing
Each other
And therefore
Experiencing a degree
Of unsureness
And fear.
We pass different ones
Sometimes as shadows …
Each of us
So tends to
Be centred on self
And yet how
We hunger for
Change, conversion
Of our hearts
And minds.
